o, I have been offered a job in Dhahran and am curious about my daughters activites.
My oldest daughter is a compeive synchronized swimmer and plays field hockey. My youngest daughter is in circus training and karate. They are both also involved in trampolining. It appears that there is karate in Dhahran and I assume there is no circus or synchronized swimming. But what about field hockey and trampolining/gymnastics? Does anybody know if they exist in Dhahran?
Also, I have been told we would be in a 3 bedroom house. We have a rather large trampoline (13' x 13') that the kids use everyday. Would the avee 3 bedroom house have a yard large enough to fit this?
Being from Canada, I play hockey, curling and ski, I gather that those are not common activities in KSA and it is probably pointless to bring my gear? This is fine as I am also an avid tennis and football player. Are tennis courts readily available or are they often quite busy like here on those nice days we occassionally get? :-)
Thank you for any replies, -jeff

Last I heard, ice hockey is available here and people from Aramco take part. They play in a local compound that has an ice rink, there are also occasional trips to play in the UAE.

Yeah, they had a tournament about 3 weeks ago in Dubai I think. I was a bot surprised because I know that we don't have an ice-rink here in the compound.

just remembered the Jr high school (not sure about the elementary school) has a unicycle club the girls may be interested in; if so you may want to bring in some unicycles. The school has some, but I have seen kids riding them around camp when they own their own.

Oh that is excellent, my daughter that is in circus has her own unicycle. The best would be trampolining but it doesn't sound like they have that. We will just have to bring ours I guess, it just would have been nice to continue with professional instruction. :-)
thanks, -jeff

You mentioned that you are from Canada so I believe your daughter's schooling thus far will not have been following a US curriculum. Other non-US people that I have known, have sent their children to the British Grammar School which is just outside the Aramco camp. I only mention this because if you're really set on your daughter continuing with trampolining, it's available there. My daughter did it as one of the five sports included in her Sports GCSE 'O' level.

There was a "circus unit" at the elementary school for PE class earlier this year. Not sure how interesting or challenging it might be for your daughter, but FYI.
