Hi, I recently received an offer in Dhahran and we are having a difficult time making the decision. This forum has been fabulous and I have found answers to most of my questions, however there are a few I cannot seem to find answers to.
- My oldest daughter is a compeive synchronized swimmer and plays field hockey. My youngest daughter does circus training and karate. They both are active in trampolining. Unfortunately I cannot seem to find any information on any of these activities. I didn't really expect circus or synchro as these are not typically found in small towns, however, I was hoping there would be field hockey, karate and gymnastics. Do these sports exist there? I am just a little concerned that it may be too difficult an adjustment if all the sports they love are suddenly gone.
- We do have our own large trampoline, which they use every day and would certainly help their transition, but from the looks of pictures I am not sure it would fit in the yards. It is 13' x 13', is this likely to fit in the avee back yard?
- I see that dentistry is subsidized but I cannot find any reference to how much. Here I have full dental covee so we don't pay anything, but I understand it can be very costly without covee. Also, are there orthodontists there? My daughters both need braces and here in Canada that is not done by dentists, but by orthodontists. Is that subsidized as well? Does anybody have any experience with paying for braces in KSA as I am really curious how much this will be costing me there?
- I see that it says 100% of in-Kingdom medical expenses are covered. My current medical covee includes eye exams, eyeglasses and all paramedical (chiropractor, physiotherapy, naturopath, massage, etc.). I am curious if the Saudi Aramco does as well? Do those paramedical practicioners exist on the compounds?
- I renovate houses as a hobby. From reading the forums it sounds like this is not really an option to renovate your house, at least nothing that you can't put back before leaving. I am totally fine with this, but I was just trying to determine if there was any point in bringing some of the larger tools like framing nailers, tile saws, table saws, etc. or if I would just sell those before leaving?
If anybody is able to help me with these few lingering questions I would really appreciate it.
Thanks,
-jeff
