Hi, looking for advice/instructions on how to get local area (KSA/Bahrain/US military, etc.) free-to-air TV stations without having a satellite TV subscription. If anyone knows how to do this, can you please advise? In other words, do you need a special receiver box and/or outside antenna?

You can get Saudi Arabian and Bahraini terrestrial TV signals with just an antenna. You won't get much else, though (occasionally Qatar and even UAE channels, depending on the conditions).
Or you can buy a small satellite receiver dish and a cheap satellite decoder box which will give you a bunch of FTA channels without any subscription required, mostly from the Middle East but also some European channels are available, depending on which satellite you aim your dish at.

Hi GroveWanderer - thanks. We bought the decoder box, however, we don't know where to find a satellite dish without ordering a service. Do you have any ideas? We tried using the decoder box together with rabbit ear antennas and nothing comes in. Nothing comes in with just antenna, either. We bought the TV in KSA, as well as the decoder box.

To get your decoder to work, you need a satellite dish. There are a number of companies who can install them.
I've sent you a PM about this.
