Hi Folks,
I am about to purchase a gae door opener here in the US but wanted to know the preferred power specs. The common power ratings range from 1/3 HP - 3/4 HP. Would a 1/2 HP do the job?
Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

Not sure, we purchased it from someone who was leaving KSA.

We bought ours 5 years ago from Zaina (Sears Outlet) and other than the Gae Keypad dying on us (probably due to water damage, which we promptly replaced by buying 2 units of the keypad from Amazon), it has worked like a Champ (1/2 horsepower)

I am moving soon. I went to Lowe's today. They had 1/2 horsepower in Belt Driven and Chain Driven. I don't know much about this stuff. Are they interchangeable in KSA? Will both work regardless of the current set up in KSA?

If by "current" you mean voltage then yes, since the voltage (at least in company compounds) is the same as in the US.
If you're living somewhere else (Riyadh, Jeddah etc) then the voltage is likely to be different and if so, a US-bought 110v device will not work.

If you buy it at Lowe's in the US, it will work here---promise.

Does it matter if the one I buy is Belt Driven or Chain Driven? I wasn't sure about the configuration. For example, my home in the US is Chain Driven. Could I easily replace it with Belt Driven (which is obviosuly quieter)?

The houses don't come with openers...so whichever one you bring should work just fine. By the way, ours is a chain driven one. Not so loud.

Can someone please advise if we need to get the chain, rails, etc... OR just the motor and remote controls? Thank you
