Hi Everyone,
Do teachers usually travel home over the December holiday? I know most visit home during the summer, but what about for the C holiday?
Thanks!

There is a 2 or 3 week period of time off in December. You could travel home if you wanted to and received permission from your administrator/principal.

Just FYI - the school "end-of-year" break has been 3 weeks for the last three years at least and will be again for 2012-13.
Another thing to bear in mind is that even though the school is off and you may not be required to work (though there are also some non-student contact days where you do have to work) you still only have so many days vacation per year, so you can't just go out every time school is out of session.

Grove Wanderer,
Why not?

vacation time must be approved by your supervisor/principal. If you have enough vacation time and you can get approval, you can go out as often as you'd like.

funtertainer,
What I was meaning, was that you don't have enough vacation days to be away for all the days that school is out. You could go out each time there is a school break but as an employee you wouldn't be able to stay out the whole time.
Also, as a teacher (which was the original question) you are sometimes required to be present during the period that the children are off school. For instance, there is a school break at the moment but all the days are designated as Professional Development/Planning days, not vacation days.
