o...I had an interview back on Feb 3rd. I was contacted on Feb 8th to submit my paystubs and was told that my recruiter would be in contact with me soon. I did speak to my recruiter Feb 20 but I am still waiting to hear back if there will be an offer.
We have six children and I am wondering if it will be an issue regarding being offered a job or not? Would my job offer need special approval? Thanks in advance for any and all info!

It is my understanding (but not necessarily actual fact, just heard about this) that expats are allowed up to four children when they are coming over, that does not limit the number they have while here. But in saying that, there are exceptions and yes, they can make an exception for you if they want you in a position.
Your not hearing back yet is normal, and especially if they're working on getting an exception.

I know one American family that came here with five kids, but that required an out-of-policy (OOP) exception, and they had to wait for available housing in order to get here. They were very lucky to get a house. There just aren't that many 4 and 5 bedroom houses available and considering that DH and RT are mostly full, it could be a problem, or at least limit where you could live (can you say daily bus ride from Abqaiq?)
Many new hires coming in now are being sent to ABQ due to unavailability of family housing at RT & DH. There is still some housing available at RT & DH, but it is very limited. An expat coming in with 6 kids would definitely require an OOP exception. Getting the OOP exception approval might depend on how critical your skill set is and the criticality of the position you would be filling. Good luck...

I have five children and during the interview, the hiring manager mentioned to me that it will require an OOP approval but he didn't seem to be concerned about it.
Could getting OOP approval be a reason for delay in feedback after interview?
How far is Abqaiq from RT?

When do you actually know for sure which housing camp you will be living in? I was told by my relocation advisor that I will be living in DH camp. I hope they don't throw me a curve ball the last minute. My wife and I have two kids and will be arriving the end of March.

Texas, for our family, we knew we'd be in Dhahran from the expat worksheet that was part of my husband's job offer package. There are two locations indicated: one for work location and one for residence. His indicated Dhahran on both. Did your worksheet have cities listed?

Hadia,
The paperwork has Dhahran (DH) as my place of residency and work. After reading some posts, some indicated that the DH compound is full and new arrivals might be send off to Abaiqaq. I am hopeful they will find me a house in DH.
I am going to send you PM.

If they have given you a residence of DHA, then you will have a house here. I've never heard of anyone arriving and then being placed in a different compound from the one they were assigned, again I've never heard of this happening.

The camps may be "full", but there's always people moving in and out fairly consistently.

Houses are allocated based on nationality. Americans/canadians get to live in Dhahran, the rest of the world in ABQ etc. I understand there are plenty of houses in DHA. Sad but true

I don't think there are plenty houses in DHA. Currently they are planning to add 200 more houses in the Hills area, and expect to get them filled quite quickly.

You get housing based on where you'll work....unless the camp is full. Right now, DMC and RT are full, so people are being sent to live in ABQ because that's where housing is available. I hear RT is supposed to be building more housing to accommodate more families as well. I can guarantee you there is EVERY nationality on every camp.

There is every nationality in Dhahran as well and there are U.S. and Canadians in ABQ and RT and UDH.
Thinking about all our friends and acquaintances every continent is probably represented and they all live in DHA. A few have lived in other camps first, but most have come straight to DHA.

If the offer letter says DH Security Compound, then the SAP system would have locked a house for you. The system will cascade down this information to all relevant departments to make sure that the house is ready for your arrival.
If you negotiate your offer and a "new" offer letter has to be generated, then the SAP process starts again from the beginning and if there are no more houses in the system that is available, then they move to RT/ABQQ compound.
