Adding a sun room
by SunkissedTexan » Sat Feb 18, 2012 11:04 am
o everyone!
I noticed the beach-front homes have a sun room in the back patio. Do they come with the house or did they add it themselves? Are beach front homes the only ones who are allowed to add that portion to their house? I don't have a beach-front home but I wouldn't mind the extra space. How would I go about adding such a room to my house?

When you see these lovely sun rooms - they are actually added on by the present occupiers - one must obtain planning permission from Housing which is very straight forward and anyone can add on a sun room - we have our friends here on RT that have a fantastic sun room with tinted glass and the quality etc etc is superb if you wish to know more do PM me and I can pass on their contact details as they will be quite happy to show you their sun room - the floor in their sun room has been tiled and looks fantastic - to enjoy all throughout the year i.e. warm in the winter and cool in the summer just like being able to sit in ones own garden.
We did think about adding on a sun room but in the end my husband built an Arbour instead but has roofed it as we opted to install an infinity pond complete with Koi fish - it is very relaxing listening to the water and watching the fish etc.
Good Luck

Next time you drop by our neighbors (4 doors down) added a nice one and we'll take you down to look at it.
They have the same style house you guys have.

Keep in mind that generally Aramco required restoration to original when additions to housing were built, once you leave the company. Make sure at the time of approval that you are clear, in writing, with Aramco about what has to be or does not have to be removed, etc.
