I am in the BI/medical phase. My wife saw a couple of positions in the Aramco Job website that fits her background. In this case, can she apply now as professional or she has to move to Saudi to apply as casual? What is the difference between professional and casual employment for her? Thanks a lot.

she can apply online. They may not hire her until she gets in kingdom. It all depends on what type of job she's applying for.
The difference in the professional and casual employment:
Professional receives his salary and all benefits. Casual receives salary only, benefits are received thru the husband. They do get vacation, sick time, education reimbursement though. Salary can be very little to what you'd expect to get paid. I have friends working with both these salary types. salary depends on department and job le.

Hi all,
I was recently accepted an offer for a finance position in Dhahran. My wife is also a professional with an MBA, she works in purchasing/procurement for an oil & gas company in Houston. I inquired about job prospects for her, but was told she would not be eligible to apply for a position until 90 days after I started work.
So, just wanted to find out what people's actual experiences have been in terms of wives getting employment...what opportunities exist? How difficult is it to secure a good position, other challenges, etc?
Thanks,
tik

Yes, wives cannot apply for a job until they are in kingdom. Once you arrive, your wife should visit HR. The process can be long or short, but more often long than short. That does give the wife time to connect with the community before going to work. She will need to stay on touch with HR just as you have probably kept in touch with your recruiter/relocation agent.
There are more jobs for wives in DHA than the other compounds.
She needs to come not expecting a job and when it occurs its a gift.

Employment for wives is definitely a gift. My own wife has supply chain skills and experience that I know the company is hiring for, but she's been waiting more than a year to hear anything from HR. But it's not just who Aramco wants - they need work permits (work Iqamas) for spousal hire, which come out of a different pool than expat hires. They were apparently much more common a few years ago, but now are rare as hen's teeth.
