In areas where it is very dry in the summer (for example, the Eastern Province) you will notice more mosquitoes at certain times of year - when it rains, basically. In other places such as Jeddah, you will find them year-round. Also, in the Eastern Province there have been no known cases of mosquito-borne diseases, whereas in Jeddah there are cases of malaria and dengue fever from time to time. www.arabianbusiness.com/saudi-he ... 80022.html

Pest Control goes around door to door, requesting permission to check your yard for mosquitoes. We see a few mosquitoes from time to time, but not massive swarms or anything. There are teeny-tiny brown ants that get everywhere and come into our house in Dhahran through tiny cracks in the walls and under doors. Our kids claim the ants bite. They also see mosquitoes at the playgrounds which are surrounded by grass with sprinkler systems.
