o All, My husband just arrived in Dhahran last night. His luggage was accidentally confused with another large black bag. As he went through security he was not required to open his bags and did not realize he had the wrong bag until he reached the taxi. He returned the incorrect piece of luggage to the lost and found at the airport. Unfortunately his bag left with someone. I would appreciate any help at all as we try to solve this problem. I am still in Texas and he is there trying to get his phone and internet working. If you can help in any way, please private message me. Many Thanks Amy and Dixie

there is an HR rep or a govt affairs rep in Aramco, who is supposed to help in any kind of situation where the expats cannot speak Arabic. Ask your husband to contact his HR rep and he will tell him about the govt affair rep

I did speak to our HR rep in Houston. She called the travel agent and the advice given to us was to make sure a claim was filed with Lufthansa. I contacted the North American help line and they were unable to provide the local number for the airline at the Dammam airport. I did however, receive a case file# from them. I went online to track the file # and it was not in the system.
I know from our brief conversation last night, he turned the incorrect bag into lost and found and reported his bag with the ticket claim information to the airport, but I am not sure how that gets relayed to the airline.
Due to it being a weekend there, I was told no one would be able to assist him until the start of the week. My number one concern is making sure a claim is filed with the airline so that we can be reimbursed for the clothing as the amount to replace the clothing would be significant. This particular piece of luggage contained several pair of very nice shoes as well as all his work closthing, most of which was brand new. His big concern was beginning his first day of work wearing jeans. Thankfully he said there was detergent at the house and he could wash the one set of clothes he has.
Our HR rep did email a contact at RT to see if the family might be able to make a connection with him. I have also reached out through pm to Derekg who previously offered in a post to make contact with new arrival bachelors.
I appreciate your responses and I do hope that whomever ended up with his wardrobe will do as he did and return it to the airport.
I am messaging on his behalf because he has not yet been able to establish his internet.

If it were me, I'd want to address the immediate issue of apparel, in the event it takes a few days to figure out where the suitcase went. I recommend that he quickly introduce himself to his neighbors and explain his plight. Aramcons are usually pretty eager to help new arrivals, once they meet you. They will likely drive him to the local mall today to buy a few quick things, or perhaps even loan him some things to wear. He could also take a taxi or take a shopper's bus, but really, it would be a lot easier to find a neighbor running weekend errands. The malls open after 4 pm. here today (Friday) and stay open late.
I feel for you. When we arrived in KSA as a family with a TON of checked baggage and carryons, somehow we forgot one of the carryons at the airport in Dammam. Naturally, it was the one containing my kids' beloved stuffed animals. Yeah, that went over like a lead balloon, especially their first night in a different country, different house and bedrooms, no lovies. We took a taxi back to the airport the next day (the kids delighted in seeing camels walking casually by the edge of the highway, so that took their mind off things), and waited and waited in line and chairs after line and chairs, until we were reunited with the suitcase at last. Had my husband not understood Arabic and how to engage socially with the airport staff, I'm pretty sure we would have been sitting there a LOT longer.
One of your husband's neighbors could also post a message in the online classifieds for your husband. Until he gets his login business squared away, he won't be able to do that, so a neighbor or coworker could help.

Dixie,
Try not to worry too much.....it'll all work out fine. I travelled with 3 pieces of luggage and one failed to arrive - unfortunately it was the one with the clothes in it!! (Silly me for not mixing them up)
You feel a bit grubby for a few days but trust me, everyone is very helpful and they will be understanding of your husbands apparel. MIne turned up after a couple of days.
Good luck Buster

Hi Amy,
I believe we may have your husband's luggage. My husband is on his way to the airport to return it, and hopefully to collect our luggage.
