Greetings all,
I was wondering if some of the new hires have applied for their visa lately? What's the timeline like? Also, does one have to secure housing before a visa is given? Thanks.

Your housing will be assigned a few days before you arrive. A crew will go in and put furniture, bedding, kitchen stuff, etc. prior to your arrival.
visa timeline is variable. Those who came before, during or just after Ramadan saw longer waits. Probably 2 - 6 weeks.

My relocation adviser should have put in for my family's Visas end of last week. She claims they rarely currently take more than 5 business days. We shall see if I have them by this Friday. This is occurring in Houston where they have an Embassy.

Also, just to answer my own question; Housing is not a prerequisite for the visa (per my relo. adviser).
