Folks,
For those from the US, how did you manage selling your house and relocating to Saudi Arabia?

Check with your realtor if they can confirm that at closing, signing and faxing of paperwork is acceptable. I am under the impression that you sign in front of a notary. In my case I sold my house by giving power of attorney (POA) to someone I trusted. He signed at the closing. Before anyone do that, please read and understand POA completely.

We currently have our home listed for sale in the US. We also have signed permission for a family member to execute closing papers on our behalf. The realtor provided us with those papers. If that family member is not available, the attorney is next in line for authorization, as we signed power of attorney for all general legal matters in our absence. We did not figure it would be practical to expect fax/email/air express shipments to be effective communications for anything of a legal or financial nature, considering notarization issues and time difference/days of business week.

I understand from my lawyer that signing the documents in Saudi Arabia in presence of Notary approved by US/Canada is acceptable. I will be selling my house and my lawyer is going to provide me with the list of approved Notories in Khobar/Dammam. I will share it with the forum, once I have them. But might take bit long as I have not reached to that stage yet. Someone in this forum who has already done this might share the info.
The lawyer in US/Canada need to send the document here by courier. Hope this helps.
