Hi all, Will some of the seasoned aramcons please elaborate on their car/suv buying experience and which vehicles are best suited for the climate there (in terms of reliability). Some previous posts suggest that buying used is risky and buying new takes 3 weeks! I have a honda pilot here and would like to buy one there since shipping is apparently a big hassle! Any ideas how much a pilot costs there? Thks.

We have a used Cadillac we bought here and a new Kia Sorrento that was also bought here. Our Cadillac has been a reliable car for over a year and was bought from a Saudi. You just have to do your due diligence on cars just like you would in the States when buying used. We looked at the Honda Pilots since that was what we owned in the States as well. They cost basically the same as they do there. Car buying new is do able here it is just a time consuming multi trip process. Unless you are planning to do a lot of desert driving there is no need for an SUV and a pilot wouldn't even be a good choice for that since it isn't a true locking 4x4. As far as being suited here I don't see that the climate is any harder on the vehicles than certain parts of the States. They are all going to do fine if taken care of. The decision is really up to you on which way you want to go.

Try.... www.saudisale.com/SS_e_mpg.aspx .....to understand the car prices in Saudi. Choose city Al-Sharqiya to be more specific to Dammam/Khobar region. rgds mjkr

It looks like toyota is more popular there. Hows the selection for used ones on aramco's intranet site? Also, I found this website: www.toyota.com.sa/en/ for new ones. I'm guessing the prices are msrp? Anyone buy a new toyota suv recently? How is the prado? Is the 3rd row pretty tight? Pls. pm me if you like...i'm a bit of a gearhead
