I am debating what to bring to Saudi on my upcoming trip to move there at the end of December. I was wondering if the customs folks at the Damman airport open and inspect each piece of luggage brought in. Do they check PC's or IPADs by making you power them up and going through the files?

All of us can tell you they do not normally search all your luggage, laptops, ipads, etc. But we would be remiss if we didn't say it could possibly happen if a custom's agent wanted to do so.

It will all go through a scanning machine but we have never had them actually open anything.

I just came with ipad and laptop and flash drive, no issues but yes it is always a risk any ware in the world. Infect got a little worried to see additional hand luggage screaning/check-in for Amsterdam to Dammam flight. Again no problems.
