o, i hope this finds you well,
I was offered a job at ARAMCO Refinery in Ras Tanura as a Lab Scientist GC11, i should start next week and i have a few questions,
1- how long does it take for my resident to be ready? 2- how many work days and day-offs? 3- how many working hours? 4- for a person who doesn't have a car, i heard that there are buses that drive around every hour and i was wondering if they're time-accuarte. I don't wanna be late especially in my first few weeks! .. or ever. 5- do i have to go out of the compound for basic shopping, groceries and such? 6- is there high speed internet ready inside the house or do i have to apply for one? 7- what are the majority in RT? Arabs or internationals?
Thank you so much in advice, S

1. Your residence will be ready when you arrive. 2. Depends on your job, but most jobs are working Saay to Wednesday; with Thursday and Friday off. There are a few jobs that do not have that schedule, don't know about yours. 3. Again, most work a 40 hour work week, but there are a few jobs that require more. 4. Aramco provides bus service and it is on time, with few exceptions. They get their work force to work on time. 5. There is a commissary on the compound. You can go out if you want to or not for groceries. Shopping for clothes, electronics, things other than food and a small amount of hardware; you'll have to go into the local area. 6. You have to have it set up for you. Dial up is available once you have a phone and have your internet access. DSL is available for a fee and will need to be set up. 7. RT resident would have to answer this one.

RT is a great mix of nationalities, cultures & religions. We have them all here...many Saudis, Arabs, Americans, Venezuelans, Colombians, Canadians, Brits, etc...

Thank you guys so much for your replies.. vpainter, as for the resident question, i called and they said it will be ready within 3 months!! that's a really long time and i'm not sure what to do, i went to RT town this afternoon and there's only 2 furnished buildings and they are NASTY! plus, they cost 300+ per day!!! i wouldn't stay there under any circumstances and it'll be a bit difficult to reside in Al Khobar and go all the way to RT and come back at the end of the day - besides, i don't know if a bus will come pick me up at my place IF i stayed in Al Khobar, or if there's a station i'm suppose to go to and wait for the bus?
i called the office and they told me i could apply for a "guest house" until mine is ready, they gave no further info about this process!
if you have any idea about this please let me know so i can send you my email or # or you can refer to me someone that can help!
thanks so much

Go to or call housing and apply for the guest house. DHA has Steineke House that's like a hotel. ABQ may have one to where temporary/contract people stay short term.
Your contact person who hired you should be able to help you or your representative in HR.

Hi There,
I know there is a bus leaves from Dhahran at around 0530 hrs in the morning and arrives RT at 0635hrs. Many employees take that bus and there are buses at every hour to Dhahran from RT. I am not sure how people come to Dhahran Camp from Alkhobar.
Good Luck!
