o everyone,
I have enjoyed the forum thus far and this is my first post as a a potential resident of Dhahran. I have accepted an offer and if I get through screening etc I hope to be in KSA in early 2012.
Sport & Keeping fit: I am keen to get any information about the fitness facilities on and off camp. I like to cycle, play golf, walk, rugby and keep fit using group circuit training ( are they mixed groups on camp as an example as my wife will join me later in the year). I also understand that there are sailing facilities but I am not sure if that works on membership or if you can start as being part of a crew.Any information on these issues would be gratefully appreciated.
Sporting Equipment: I understand that you can buy equipment in KSA but is it worth me packing my own cycle etc. I do not have anything spectacular, just a basic road bike, and I was wondering if it easy to buy a decent bike when I get out there. Again any information on this or Golf equipment is appreciated.
Household: I see there is a long history of thoughts on what is available in KSA re household goods. I have checked out the internet etc on some stores and there appears to be more items available than I had expected. Can anyone help with up to date thoughts re buying furniture in KSA? I am interested in thoughts re bedroom and living room furniture in particular.
Regional Travel: I enjoy living abroad and getting into the heart of other countries culture and history. Is it the case that national and regional travel is available to me ?I understand that there is good rail system within KSA but I have not seen any posts on the subject. Any views or assistance for further exploration is appreciated.
In regard to my wife and travel outside of the camp is it correct that she will be required to wear an Abaya in all public places?
All advice outside of this post will also be appreciated as I am sure you will have some interesting snippets that will be of benefit.
Kind Regards
