Just curious what the current situation is with regard to day care for children under 5 in Dhahran? Any private day cares set up on camp?
Also, our son turned 5 last Fall so he is still in VPK here in the States...anyone have an idea what his transition will be like.

There is not day care like you think of in the States. If you want something all day then you will need a nanny or full time housekeeper. There are numerous day cares on camp that run for a few hours in the morning or afternoon. We came last year when our daughter was 5 and she has adjusted very well. She had the easiest time of anyone. They make a zillion friends here! There are also numerous play groups that meet as well.

Aramco schools started a preschool this year for 4 year olds. 5 year olds are in Kindergarten. I'm sure your son will fit in there somewhere. Also there are private preschools in ladies' homes in DHA that you could find useful, many are half day for a couple days a week. You'll be able to find info at the Community Services Office after arrival.
