Saudi Aramco can't transfer salary into account based on SWIFT and IBAN only. Is it true? I've accepted proposal from SA and should be relocated in a few weeks. I'm very worried if I will not be able to transfer my salary to my home bank account. I'm from Italy and here bank use SWIFT and IBAN code only. Anyone can help me?
Thanks and regards

I'm from Norway, and have given Aramco my IBAN and Swift codes. This is all they need to deposit my salary into my own account. There should be no problem at all.
As far as I know, there is a sort code for the bank, and something else which doesn't appear in my mind right now, but if you ask the bank for these details, it should be no problem!
Good luck!
Alex

Saudi Aramco can deposit payroll to a local Saudi bank or a bank in your home (passport) country. What this means is that your payroll can only be deposited to a bank account in a country for which you hold a passport or valid residency (e.g. green card for US). If you do not have an account in your home (passport) country, you will need to have your payroll deposited in a local (Saudi) account and set up wire transfers to your banking in other countries. Most banks here support both SWIFT and IBAN transfers.

Thanks for replies. My job position is Process Engineer, grade code = 13 and I'll be relocated to Dharan. I own an Italian passport and regular bank account in my country. I'm just a bit worried since I've read in this forum that Saudi Aramco can not transfer salary into bank account if you do not provide Sort Code. It seems that sort code is something typical for UK and Ireland, but for money transfer worldwide IBAN and SWIFT code are enough.

Additional info, my payroll will be in EURO and I want to transfer salary into my home bank account. I wouldn't like to open a local bank account unless for small amount of money that I'll use to cover living costs.

Can't see what the problem will be.
I get money sent home to UK and only gave them acct & IBAN/Swift - didn't even know they existed before I moved to Aramco. I know a German guy who gets paid in Euros to a German account.
Check with your adviser, it shouldn't be a problem
Cheers Buster

Aramco will only transfer the money to the country where the currency is the same as your payroll. So if you're on Euro Payroll and you're from the Euro currency states, then it shouldn't be a problem. If you're on the Sterling Payroll but your country is Malaysia for example, then Aramco will not transfer your payroll there. The only option is if you have a UK based bank (or a UK Offshore account), and only then will they transfer it there.

Thanks for your reply, azraeil. My payroll will be in EURO and I'll request ARAMCO to tranfer my salary into an italian bank account (EURO zone), therefore there shouldn't be problem. I understand that IBAN and SWIFT codes are enough.

azraeil I'm on Euro payroll but my salary is deposited into my national bank account in my country's currency. There seems to be some kind of exchange. If this is done by the bank or Aramco, I'm not sure, but the money gets there. Alex

alex, hmm so your home country is not in Euro? Well that's news to me. I'll check with Personnel and see if I can do the same. But then again, I'm on currency protection and one of the requirement is that ALL of the salary must be deposited in Saudi bank.

I should make a claification. The rule is YES, they can use SWIFT/IBAN number to deposit your payroll, BUT you can only deposit your payroll into your country of origin listed in your hiring documents or here in local Saudi bank.
It was stated above you can deposit your payroll into any country you have a recidency or passport, and this is not correct....at least I was told I could not do so when I tried earlier this year.

NXSLR8/Buster/AZraiel, What are the good Saudi Banks with possibility of foreign currency accounts (EUR) ? what is the currency protection you mentioned? I'll be in the same boat when I land there and would have to transfer salary to my home country (not in EUR). thanks for the tips. Rgds mjkr.

There's a mulude of Banks here in Dhahran but for me I bank with NCB, they have a good branch here near the Mujamma and I remembered opening a British pound account with them BUT I ended up never using it. Aramco will not transfer my salary in pounds (even though I have a pound account with NCB), they will only transfer to a UK bank or if you have offshore banking (Isle of Man etc).
The British payroll have 44 nationalities in it and almost all of us are not British and have our liabilities in our very own home currency. Aramco has finally (they implemented the home currency protection for the Aussie/Kiwis last year first) protected the pound's depreciation against our home currency at the the exchange rate at the time of our entry which in my case my home currency has appreciated by 35% against the pound. The only requirement was that ALL my salary must be deposited in Saudi Riyal in a local Saudi bank. It was a 12 thousand riyal difference to me so that was a no brainer.
