I have been checking out Vonage to bring with us but the web site seems geared towards customers making calls from the US to other countries. I don't see Saudi Arabia listed on the unlimited world plans. What vonage plan is every one using? Does your VPN make it seem to Vonage that you are actually in the US? Are you paying anything by the minute?
We are very excited to be making this move and we look forward to asking many more questions!

Any thoughts on the above post? I need to order vonage soon and I want to make sure I sign up for the right plan...

Nola, you buy Vonage in the states and set it up with an address there. You then can travel with your phone anywhere you have internet access. We just happen to travel to KSA and use our phone regularly.

If you buy a Vonage box in the US, the idea is that wherever you travel in the world, it appears to those calling you, that they are calling an internal, US land-line number, based in whichever city you choose as your Vonage number location when you subscribe. The plan you buy governs the rates you pay for calling various countries, no matter where you are in the world. So if your plan includes unlimited calling to US numbers, you don't pay for any calls to the US, no matter which country you are in when you plug in your Vonage box (including Saudi).
I bought mine in the UK where the calling plans are different from those offered in the US but none of the UK plans offer unlimited calls to Saudi Arabia. However, since you are planning to use it (I would imagine) primarily for calling from Saudi Arabia after you get here, that is not a concern as you will not be using it to call numbers in Saudi.
Well, you could but it wouldn't make much sense as paying the Vonage rates for a call to Saudi Arabia would be more expensive than just using the local call rates, especially within the Eastern Province where land-line calls within the province are free from company-provided land lines.

Get Voiply, its cheaper and works better, I started with Vonage but switched to Voiply. With vonage you have to log into the app on your phone in the US. If you have to replace your mobile in kingdom, you will be unable to log into your app and make calls.
The box's doesn't work in Aramco homes due to STC blocking internet, calls, but with VPN and Voiply app on your mobile no problem making or receiving calls. You can setup Voiply in kingdom, not so with Vonage.
