Hi I have been going through the posts about this but many of the answers are many years old. We are interviewing now but I’m worried about the on camp school. What is the quality like? I’ve read elsewhere that many people are sending their kids to the British school instead of the camp school? Is the quality not like it used to be? I’d rather our children go on camp because I think that would be more convenient. But if the school isn’t good we need to really think about things.
Any insight?

I have never used the school, my children were too old but the fact you only mention the British school might be the key. The camp school is very well subscribed to but is American curriculum, only goes up to age 14 and is the standard of any good state school. The issue is children then having to switch to the British system at the exam years stage.

Thanks tasmin. I suspect it is a very good school so we will just have to wait and see for ourselves. If anyone else with kids in the school has any comments we’d love to hear!

We moved from Scotland to Saudi and my daughter attended the Elementary School in RT. We had the same concerns and a few expats had voiced their concerns.
Personally we had 0 issues in the end, we have since came back to Scotland and my daughter is probably ahead of 95% of the class.

Thanks Kyle. This definitely eases my mind. Glad to hear your daughter was ahead! Depending on the date of birth, some children miss the cut off for the higher grade. My daughter was one of them, but absolutely did not suffer for it. She excelled if anything.

One comment about the Aramco school you might want to consider, kids are brought home for lunch everyday. This was not very conviniet to one of my colleagues but ok for us. Also, make sure you have all vaccinations, there are probably posts on this subject on this forum... Good luck

Many people join aramco considering am opportunity to travel middle east but reading the school handbook it looks like school is very strict about absences so I wanted to check if they really are and then how people manage travel with kids

In the school holidays or homeschooling..
But also, many departments expect you to take a big vacation (one month) and a smaller (two weeks) so outside of that and public holidays/eids, you possibly won’t be travelling outside those times either.
