I've heard it can take a long time to get an interview. I've also heard that "persistence and patience" pay off when you're applying. How many times did you apply and over how many years?
When you apply for a job does it help to have an inside referral from a current employee? Of course, still apply via online or a recruiter, but is any weight given if you have an inside referral? Or does it not matter at all?
Talking about a corporate position - higher up that is being applied for.

Internal referral definitely helps. Atleast chance of reveweing by hiring managers. The recruiter in US or any other region have no clue and generally not competent enough to review the resume and will just reject it after few secs of review. It will never land into hiring manager's hand.
