Hi,
We are looking at shipping options for furniture and home goods.
Is there a specific company everyone recommends to ship an air or sea shipment from the US to Dhahran camp?
Or would you recommend just buying basics from ikea?
Would you bother shipping cars or just buy used cars in Kingdom?
Also, we are looking at bringing a dog over. Has anyone used an animal relocation service to help with the paperwork and transfer?
Thanks

You will get good furniture at cheap price from local market (called haraz) in dammam and khobar. Same goes for car, get one from here.

There are a lot of options for furniture here, affordable, both new and secondhand. The houses here are not massive so buying to suit is what most people do. Car import is expensive and a headache. Buy here. I brought in 2 dogs, your best bet is contact the people here and find out who they use where you are. Expat solutions is the company we used.

Ship in your essential items with checked luggage, I had 10 pieces of luggage on my first flight, and take cash in leu for your move.

Hi All, Thanks very much for the super helpful information in this forum. I am expected to relocate to Dhahran in late June and I am preparing shipment of my items. I have a nice e-bike I would like to ship along with 2-3 items, I will buy the rest once I arrive. I was asked EUR 4.500 only to ship these few items from Belgium because, they said, of the battery. Anyone has experience? I was thinking to ship the bike without the battery, and buy the battery locally. My cash in lieu would essentially be spent on this shipment only, so I was thinking about alternatives... Thanks!

My advice is to sell your e bike, whether here gets very hot and may not be very suitable for your bike. Ones here, you can always buy another one after feasibility study.

A 20 ft container from Perth, Australia to Dhahran is quoted at AUD 18 K, USD 13 K. Anyone else with figures on container ?
