I got email from my recruiter that yor are among the shortlisted candidates but final decision is still pending on your file.
Does anyone know if this is the normal process of selection or it indicates a backup candidate kind of situation?
I also have "your recruiter will contact you when we are ready to proceed" status for another job for which I was interviewed in July and also got the confirmation that the interview was successful , but was given a backup candidate status after 2 weeks. The status on thay application is the same till now.

The status in the webpage does not tells any accurate indication. I was interviewed for a job that months ago the status appeared as "Not Selected". I suggest to contact the recruiter and he/she will have more accurate information.

I got the same email message this morning that my file was among shortlisted candidates but final decision is still pending on your file. I am not sure what to make of this. Were you interviewed in Houston this month?

Yes I was. I thought they sent offers to some and sent this shortlisted candidate email to the backups. Not sure if that's the case.

Things take time here, especially with all the workflows and approval levels. Expat offers require approval and sign off at every level up to VP. If one person is on assignment or vacation, it mostly waits until their return. I waited 4-5 months for my offer after interview |
