Hi all
Hope all is well.
I have a few questions ahead of my flight booked for first week of November, it would be great to get some insight and hear other people experiences/thoughts on the topics below. Any advice or heads up is much appreciated!
1) I've read online the bus system isn't great, does anyone have any good companies to approach for car hire.. I understand I can obtain a car using my UK license as soon as I arrive.
2) Is there a specific sim I should purchase when arriving at Dammam airport? There will be a few telecom companies to choose from so any pointers will be really helpful.
3) I have read on previous forum that the dress sense is casual, i will be working as an executive assistant and would like to know if i can wear trainers with abaya as appropriate footwear. I have read online it can be quite dusty and the offices are cold. Any tips on other people's experiences or what they have seen would be greatly appreciated so i can come prepared.
Thank you so much in advance everyone!

In addition to this, you will be collected by your buddy and brought in to camp, you will struggle to get on camp in an unregistered car on temp id. The buses are much improved, we’ve had no issues and we also have a car share app now, Rekab. 2. STC is the most popular and it’s on camp so when you need to register your number to your iqama it’s the easiest option and for any issues going forward. 3. Trainers with abayas are very much a thing here. It is dusty and it is cold inside. But a lot depends on your department, I’d suggest something like converse until you gauge your workplace.

Just to add - if you are non-arab employee, no one will expect you to wear an abaya. Modest clothing - pretty much standard office wear will suffice.
Skirt beneath the knees or loose pants & shoulders covered is the minimum.

Are pick up trucks still banned for expats? Yes pickups are still banned for expats to own. Just a note, the law for an expat owning a 7+ seater were changed a few years ago, and can be owned by expats again.
