Visa validity for KSA entry is 3 months once stamped in your passport. I had a 3 months notice period and had to negotiate with my employer a slightly shorter one so I can arrive to KSA before the 90 days visa expires (will arrive to KSA 3 days before Visa expiration) Assuming then it’s a case of when you’re in you’re in? Don’t suppose the visa has to remain valid whilst the iqama is in the works?

Thanks for everyone’s input thus far. After speaking with the grown ups today I’ve fortunately managed to negotiate a 1 month reduction in my notice period.
Do you mind if I ask how the cash in lieu payment works for shipping? Is that paid with the settling in allowance in the first month?

I am in exactly the same position. Only my notice is 3 full calendar months not 90 days, as per labour law in current country. So trying to align this is very hard and there seems little to no interest to accommodate from the other side. I was told its important to be in Kingdom before year end due to manpower planning and budget. I am now trying to agree a slightly shorter notice to do this.

Cash in lieu when I joined had to be claimed thru the Aramco system after arrival. It's a lump sum for each adult and 1/2 for each child IIRC and must be claimed within the first 3 or 6 months else you lose it.

You’ll get in the first pay packet after you apply for, you get it as people arrive, you get % the reapply for the rest when your family arrive.

Perhaps the urgency is that you are a requisition as part of this years head count and budget. There will be a push to get you in Kingdom before end of December? I understand you have 90 days from date of your visa is stamped in your passport to get to KSA. This is hard to align with notice periods etc in UK. I agree it does seem like there’s some other business reason why they’re pushing for an early entry. Not that I’m complaining, it’s just caught me off guard with how the pace has suddenly changed. The entire process was at a snails pace and took around 6 months and now all of a sudden it’s a 100m sprint! Did you face similar challenges? Get used to it!! They will want you asap because the requisition for your role ends midnight 31 December. After that it’s a world of pain for the hiring team so they will want you in. From your side it’s better as you’ll be able to get repat for 2024 and again in 2025, rather than just the latter.

Ah okay that’s an interesting point you raise on the repat, I didn’t even consider that.
