My visa has recently been stamped and I’ve been informed I’ve got 90 days to arrive into the kingdom. The issue is I have a 3 month notice period which I was upfront about from the get go. However my RA is now pushing me to reduce my notice period to a month?? Is this just a normal tactic Aramco use or do they seriously think I have the freedom to break my contractual obligations? I’ve discussed reducing my notice period with my line manager and I’ve got some annual leave I can use but to try and reduce it to one month is in my opinion wishful thinking. Has anyone else experienced anything similar?

They ask to see your contract and where it's explicitly called out that you must give 3 months notice. Did you provide them with this?

No, unlikely no one has because a 3 month notice seems extreme! It’s typical and expected all new hires to arrive within 30 days of visa issuance. May be able to push to 5 to 6 weeks but beyond that you’re jeopardizing of getting your offer rescinded by Aramco or just irking Aramco.
Labor laws are definitely different in USA. Not legally required to give any type of notice for most jobs (contract or regular employment) but common professional courtesy to give at least two weeks. A months notice for a current employer is reasonable to ask for but three months seems unreasonable to ask Aramco for. Definitely don’t want your entry visa to expire - that would highly likely kill your Aramco offer.

I don’t have any wise words I’m afraid but It is normal (and common) for professionals in the UK to have a 3 month notice period.

Yes i was put into the garden for 6 months from my last place, its standard practice at many employers for those in senior or client facing roles. 3 months is standard in professional positions in London. To be honest Aramco know this and are being unreasonable in this request.

I’m from the UK so as others have mentioned 3 months notice is quite standard for professionals here, especially in finance. But on your other point, where does it state that new hires have to arrive into the kingdom within 30 days? I was never once made aware of that and it wouldn’t make sense either with the notice periods in the UK.

I just don’t understand the urgency when they knew from the beginning I had a 90 day notice period. Have you heard of any instances where people have lost their offer because Aramco wasn’t able to hold out while they worked their notice? I’ve also got a meeting coming up with my line manager and HR to discuss this again, any tips on how best to approach these types of negotiations?

There will be a push to get you in Kingdom before end of December? I understand you have 90 days from date of your visa is stamped in your passport to get to KSA. This is hard to align with notice periods etc in UK.

Not that I’m complaining, it’s just caught me off guard with how the pace has suddenly changed. The entire process was at a snails pace and took around 6 months and now all of a sudden it’s a 100m sprint! Did you face similar challenges?

When did you do your medical, because that has a 3 month stamp on it too.

I am under the impression that it is important from visa stamping perspective only. I guess entry cut-off date would be linked to the date on the visa (though I am not sure what dates are mentioned on the visa stamp)

Visa validity for KSA entry is 3 months once stamped in your passport.
I had a 3 months notice period and had to negotiate with my employer a slightly shorter one so I can arrive to KSA before the 90 days visa expires (will arrive to KSA 3 days before Visa expiration)
