Not JHAH or one of the subsidiaries? Although, I must admit, after being here a while I’d not be bothered about outside. Many folk do and it’s not as hard as it used to be. Nope not jhah or subsidaries.. Thanks for the input Tamsin I think the main concern offcamp is the driving 😅 The driving is definitely a factor. I hope you get it resolved, that’s very poor.

There are plenty of empty houses in the camp. I believe everybody with grade 11 above will live in camp now. My Husband was recently offered G13 was not offered camp accommodation… even after trying to negotiate Is it related to payroll? I recently accepted an offer and will be based in Dhahran too. And I also have the same concern, especially education for our kids. From my understanding, once you secured a house in camp, then only your kids will be eligible to enroll in SAES. When I asked my recruiter, she said it is a company policy. Once I physically there, then only department personnel will confirm my housing allocation. Is that true? And what is possibility to secure a house in camp? Thanks.

Unfortunately, the housing department is not a customer satisfaction based department. Make sure whatever the housing arrangement you need is in your offer. It doesn't matter your country of origin, or how many empty homes they have, they don't care what your needs are. You get what you get, so make sure it will work for you. Do not expect to arrive in Kingdom and you can change your arrangements, it won't happen.

Hi Klein.. we were told its not up to them (RA) but we can apply for incamp housing when were there.. so the advice left by arctic engineer is well worth taking..

Hi all our accommodations came through, and we will be based alongside Canyon Baseball Field. I was wondering if anyone has been here or knows the area and what the houses/community are like there? (Eucalyptus Court)
Also is 110v standard in housing there, we are coming from Ireland, where all our appliances are 230 volts, I think. Can these be changed/worthwhile asking?
Many thanks
C

Most modern electronics like TV, laptop, phone chargers etc. are now usable across 120v or 230v, 50Hz or 60Hz they don't care.
Even if your house is 120v most electronics goods are fine. The exception is larger items like vacuum cleaner, kitchen items like fryers, mixers or Crockpot will only work on the voltage they are designed for.
You should even in a 120v home have a few 230v sockets in kitchen, main room and kitchen so you can buy what you need here. It gets a little annoying having to move things like toaster, George Foreman and Crockpot around due to limited space but it is just a minor annoyance.
A 230v kettle will work fine on 120v tho - just take a little longer to boil. Simplest method for dual voltage items like TV, printer etc is replace the 230v plug with a 120v one (easy to get from souq or from a colleague).
Housing inspection always are focussing on adaptors and extensions - keep their use to a minimum and don't even consider to use them for power hungry items. Main thing for these is European or US certified (CE / UL marked).
The 230v stuff is UK style 3 pun plugs.

Fab location, right on the border of main camp and Hills, over the road from the duck pond park and walking trail, walkable to the ladies gym, shopping buses, core area in cooler weather.. I think that floor plan is the only style on camp to have a massive balcony, they look really cool.

I have been offered a GC14 position in the finance function at the higher end of the job family.
We are a family of 5. We have 3 kids - 6yr girl and two 4yr boys.
We were hoping to get on-camp housing but unfortunately the written offer states "Housing: you will be provided with RAA".
Upon requesting for on-camp housing, the response was "Unfortunately in camp housing is not available and must take the rental assistance allowance."
What should I do?

This is for Dhahran. I am Indian and currently based out of India. Most of my work experience has been in the US (pre-pandemic world).
