As soon as you have your Iqama you can arrange for a visa thru the agent Al-Fifa and are free to travel.
You also will receive your vacation credits pro-rata upon starting but require supervisor approval to travel during trial period IIRC.

The bigger issue is getting your supervisor to approve leave. You are unlikely to get leave approved within six months of your hiring date, and then depending on your departments needs you may find when you want to travel someone else in your department has already received approval for their leave and you are stuck trying to find a vacation window.
