o
My house is subject to the annual safety inspection soon. can someone give me tips about inspection? what does the inspector check during the inspection?
And I'm using some step down transformers and extension cords. And I have installed shower filters at the shower head to soften raw water. I'm not sure if this is okay or otherwise.
looking for some tips.
thanks

Takes 15mins or so, general inspection including the Still Room, fire extinguisher/blanket They are always on the lookout for extension cords. If you have extensions they should be CE or UL marked (EU and US safety marks).
Shower filters should be OK, but the transformers may be an issue as a lot of the ones you by in town are inherently unsafe - again they should be CE / UL marked.

If you have transformers all over - check to see if they are really needed. Most electronic devices work perfectly well on 120v or 230v - things like TV, laptops and consoles are all OK. Just swap the plug to match the house sockets.
Exceptions are higher rated items like Vacuum cleaners and kitchen appliances - these need to be run on the correct voltage.

Regarding the CE mark, I'm not sure if my memory serves correctly. But I understand that the CE mark is not approved to use in the camp; this was told by the instructor during the onboarding house safety induction.
Is the CE certification is approved to use? or inspectors just waive it to use?
thanks in advance

CE is perfectly fine to use. If they tell you its not then challenge them to show you the GI. It is akin to telling you not to use the UK style 230V sockets because they are not UL approved.
I cannot think of anything as inherently unsafe as the US 120V wiring systems yet that system and associated fixtures is UL approved.

Just disconnect your transformers and extensions for the “inspection” so it doesn’t trigger some aramco “safety” KPI and get you into trouble…your line manager could be informed. I had someone doing this tell me that a CE mark wasn’t “safe”. They claimed it was a Chinese standard….
I told them to go and do one.. They really don’t know what they are doing. Be prepared to stand your ground!
