I always just go with what the packers say, they usually have a bunch of paperwork listing what is or isn’t allowed and leave anything prohibited.

I have never had an issue carrying food items in my luggage. I typically bring large quanies of frozen meat and spices.
I don't know if shipping times have improved, but people I know who have recently left the kingdom have had to wait up to 12 months for their container to arrive. Not sure if given the long wait you would want to ship food items. You can find almost any spice you can think of in kingdom.

Curious - why would you be bringing large quanies of frozen meat? Are these items that you have difficulty finding locally? And where are you travelling with them from? As I start to consider finalizing my own packing list I'm curious to know in case I should be making some additional considerations.

You can get mostly everything meat wise that here you want (outside of pork products etc). What you can not get (easily/cheaply) is proper 14 days+ cold cured meat as you would in a Western butcher. Get it vac-sealed and freeze the night before, pack in an cool bag. My wife is threatening to bring some Lorne Sausage back next time she travels.

I catch large quanies of wild salmon when I'm home, so bringing back 10-20 kilos of fillets and smoked fish I have caught is worth it to me over farmed salmon at 100+ SR a kilo. There are a few specific spices I haven't been able to find locally, nutmeg, juniper berries and a few botanicals I haven't found locally. Also some brands of hot sauces I haven't been able to find locally.
