o all,
May another basic question is the furnished house includes all amenities like cot , washing machine, iron machine, fridge and oven etc? I am not sure what is meant by furnished in SA.
Also if its inside campus means all this will be included as part of house provided ?
Can we get this facility included as part of outside campus house also ?

Oven, dishwasher, fridge and beds are provided and included in the rent. Iron, kettle, kitchenware, towels, bedding, blinds etc are yours, a gift. All other furniture is free for 4 months then a small fee, most people buy their own. There is a thriving fb marketplace plus ikea etc. Washing machine and dryer are usually also provided and free for the first 4 months but they have run out and you get free laundry, up to 300 Sar a month instead for that time. A cot would be, I assume, but if you don’t get an answer on here, let me know and I’ll ask someone with small kids. No clue what a private landlord provides, and I have to be honest, doubtful camp stores would furnish elsewhere.

Thanks Tamsin. Let's hope the housing gets allocated inside the campus.

Thanks Tamsin. Let's hope the housing gets allocated inside the campus. Fingers crossed for you. So, the furniture warehouse does provide a crib, but not the mattress. You have to purchase that yourself.

Thanks, i'm not bothered about it being dated more in that ive seen a few clips on social media and the single person accommodation appears to be one room and bathroom eg travelodge layout but very dated in a portacabin type building? I’ve not seen those, the ones near me (heights) are either little bungalows or a small townhouse but not one room. I’m sure somebody who knows will answer. Tamsin I've been reading your posts\responses and I think my family and yours have some things in common so I would like to ask a few questions. I am still going through the contingencies before moving so if I were to move it would likely be around Feb or March 2023. We are a family of three with a 14 year old so I am assuming if we are given a house it would be a two bedroom unit. I read in one of the packets they gave me that it would be an apartment or townhouse. Is it correct, and not an actual single detached house for a two bedroom? Are there 2 bedrooms in the main camp or are they all in the Hills or heights? I heard that the main camp has very old and outdated homes. Also, is there a spare room like a study room that can be converted to an extra bedroom? Do you mind sending me pictures of your house or any other simialr 2 bedroom units? Oh, we also have a tiny dog maybe that would also factor into the type of accomodation we will be getting. Thanks!

A lot of main camp is detached, the homes tend to be wooden and I’ve heard a bit rickety. But, they also are closer to everything (we spend a lot of time driving), charming to look at, mostly larger gardens and mature greenery. Not all have a gae or driveway. I believe in the Hills all 2 bed are in rows of 2 or 4. They are older but are a decent size and extremely well soundproofed. My neighbour had people over, patio doors open and in the garden I could hear them but not once I came in and shut the door. I believe all the houses have an extra room, study, it is a decent size with a fitted wardrobe and good sized walk in closet, easily use it as a bedroom. Most gardens are not big but there is a lot of green space and mature trees. I know of smaller homes in the heights but no idea if they are houses or only apartments. They will be newer and more modern, the facilities are lovely. But the payoff is even further out, and pretty stark, no mature trees. Which does matter (to me), I find it blank and hot. We have two dogs, a beagle and a golden retriever. They are not factored in by housing, they only count the humans. There is a dog park, it has a sectioned off small dog bit. Hope that helps.

Thanks Tamsin this helps a lot. I am hoping we get one in the Hills as it sounds like the best choice for us - not too old, spacious with great soundproofing, and with mature trees around. My work is likely in Ras Tanura so I will need to take the bus daily between RT and DH. How is the bus service and do they have frequent trips in case one misses his schedule or needs to come late\leave work late? Also wondering how far from the Hills to the bus station.

I’m not sure, my husband got the bus there once, the stop was about 15 minutes drive away. No idea of the frequency, closer stops, connecting buses. I’d put a post in the RT bit of I were you.

HI tamsin My husband has been offered GC14 but no in-camp housing. We are a family of 5 (3kids all ages below 6yrs) and am worried about living off campus. We are of Indian Nationality. Can you please shine some light on off-campus housing and any preferred communities. Also, a little information about schools off-campus is appreciated. Thank you!

Can you please shine some light on off-campus housing and any preferred communities. Also, a little information about schools off-campus is appreciated. Thank you! That makes life a little harder, but I would not be too concerned about quality of life. After living here a bit, it’s safe and so many people are on compounds and absolutely love it. There is a list of compounds in the living outside aramco section but the two I’ve heard great things about are Eurovillage and Canary Vista. Euro is closer to camp, canary is about 25 minutes away but has the ISG campus for the American school and the British school. My son goes to the British, it’s a good school but I can’t comment on the younger years as I have no experience. There is also Gens and a few other more independent schools without a brand name.. Depends what kind of curriculum you are looking for. Most compounds will do school buses to various schools. In my experience, elsewhere, find the school first, then ask them their buses, find out where the kids are coming from
