o,
I got an offer from Aramco Residence mentioned as Out of Camp and Work location is Dhahran. I wanted to get some details before i am moving to SA.
Rental assitance allowance mentioned as 48K SAR and minimum 20K for single status and 30K for family . Is this value sufficient for getting house which includes all utilities etc?
1. Is there a good housing available in Dhahran and how much is cost for Bachelor living and cost of three family members? 2. Getting housing outside campus is it safer to stay? 3. Will the housing outside campus will have furnished and semi furnished kind of apartments? how much cost will differ? 4. Is the housing includes all the appliances as well? does the rent includes all the utility bills includes water, electricity and maintenance etc? 5. Outside campus can the single men can roam around for any shoppings or is there any restrictions?
Since i am new coming to SA wanted your guidance and help on getting some knowledge on the same.

That’s really not a good deal at all. We’re you not offered housing in camp?

Have you been told this, for definite? Or is it the standard wording on the contract IF there is no accommodation on camp? Because we had that, no issues with getting a house on camp, it’s just something they put in, leftover from when camp was full. The amount is standard, two times one month basic salary.
1. Yes. But it will be off compound and in an apartment for that price. A 4 bed house on a nice compound runs to about 200k Sar p.a. 2. Not unsafe, many people live off compound. But not as easy, particularly for spouses and children. Especially if they are not fluent in Arabic/English. 3.Both are available, it looks to be 25 to 35% more for furnished. 4. Off camp? Not always, some don’t even have a kitchen or ac fitted, you do it yourself. Bills are frequently included. 5. No restrictions now, apart from shops intended for female customers. You can easily shop and eat without concern.

Thanks for the reply. Looks like generic wording only says out of campus. But if there is vacancy in campus then via bidding i can try it seems. Im not sure about the process. My work location is Dhahran. Initially I'm planning to alone only . Hope outside the campus a bachelor can survive it know? You mentioned 200sar for per annum or per month? Also is this cost for single occupancy or family of three? As per offer mentioned it says 4000sar per month Or 2500sar per month for family minimum and 1666sar per month for single status. Please do let me know am I able to survive or get a good housing outside using this cost? Also outside campus how is the grocery shops and other things needed for day to day life.. is it easily accessible? Bidding tends to be after you’ve been here for 2 years, minimum, and have the points to change house. Camp is not full, there might be a huge amount of people coming but when I’m walking around with my dogs, it’s only about 60% occupied, whole streets are empty. Sorry, I left off the K, it’s 200k Sar a year, thereabouts for a home for 4 on a compound. You can get housing for the allowance but probably not a compound and the problem with that is stuff like getting to work, school buses etc. There are supermarkets everywhere, malls. You can buy everything you need. I would honestly not stress about this, it’s something we also worried about but the reality is there is housing available. This is just a thing they put in to cover themselves, leftover from the days before the heights was built, before Covid etc. You’ll be in camp.

Thanks Tamsin. The last sentence makes me optimistic in terms of getting house inside the campus.
Could you please help me I am planning to come alone initially what are the things are important for me to bring? As i single person what are the things to carry ?
Also it's mentioned in relocation guide that for the first 60days i will be staying in single room accomodation after which i need to look for a house. If everything goes fine and there is an availability inside the campus what's the process i should be follow to get the inside campuse house?
Any tips welcome here.

There isn’t much you can’t buy here, but things like Apple products are expensive and you won’t be issued a phone or laptop by the company (usually). There is a thriving secondhand fb page for small electrics and furniture.
I can’t answer the process, as far as I know you get assigned bachelor or family, and that is where you stay for two years, unless your circumstances change. So a bachelor for a year then family joins, they’ll move you. If you want to move after 2 years then you bid on properties based on how many points you have, points are accrued by years of service and grade. I’ve not heard of the 60 day thing.

I don't use apple products hope I don't need worry about it. But Android mobile will bring my charger and other needed things. But do you think bringing my own laptop help me here?
Also about certificate do i need to bring my marriage certificate and birth certificate of kids attested now itself and bring it to there for family visa?
Do i need to bring any documents of myself original there ?

I think most use desktop, your own laptop is handy for banking etc.
Your RA will guide you on the paperwork required, plus if you do a search on here there are loads of lists of what is required.

Hi, really useful thread. I am due around end of December single status. where can I see quality of single person accommodation, I've searched on YouTube etc, but there doesn't seem to be much, or the footage is 20yrs old. my employee grade is 13 if this makes a difference. Thanks

Thanks To be fair, unless you get the Heights then the 20 year footage is applicable, it’ll be new carpets, repainted, frequently new worktops and hopefully 220 but the bathrooms and kitchens are original in the Hills. I believe we are strongly discoued from putting stuff up on the general internet.

To quote a friend yesterday “nobody comes here for the houses”. They are okay, they are dated but easy enough to adjust with your own decor, they are incredibly cheap.

Thanks, i'm not bothered about it being dated more in that ive seen a few clips on social media and the single person accommodation appears to be one room and bathroom eg travelodge layout but very dated in a portacabin type building?

I’ve not seen those, the ones near me (heights) are either little bungalows or a small townhouse but not one room. I’m sure somebody who knows will answer.
