Hi all,
How are people managing their finances? What options are available in terms of salary. Is it paid direct into bank account. Is it paid in SAR or USD? I have seen in forums, people talking about sending part of their salary back to their home country. Is that a feasible option?

I chose to have mine paid part in Kingdom(sar), and part in my UK account (£). If I had $ I could be paid in that also. Depends on your plans/circumstances as everyone has individual needs.

Thanks that is useful to know. For the UK account, is it bank to bank transfer and are there any charges (conversion). Can it be any UK bank? Can a UK bank remain open for expats living outside UK?

Officially you should be resident in the UK to continue with the account. If you choose not to tell your bank, then perhaps they will never know. To keep yourself right you should open an offshore account.
Transfers will vary from free to a few % of the amount depending on your bank.

Any idea about offshore account. HSBC has international expat account. Has anybody used those? There are certain conditions for opening HSBC expat account and most probably ksa is not in the list of eligible countries.

Never had an issue with keeping our U.K. ones open.

HSBC expat works fine here for me. I am a premier customer in the UK and its free to move money between them. It works quite well.
