Hi there,
any advice you could give me would be much appreciated :-).
I am moving over to Dhahran on 30th September to start my new job as a secretary. My dog Nancy will be joining me about 1 month later. Can you let me know what it is like for dogs on the compound? Is there doggie day care? Can I take my dog on public transport to the beaches etc?
thanks so much
Antoinette

We Have been to Saudi before, specifically in Jubail Industrial city near Dammam from 2014 to 2017. We have relocated our two cats with us from USA to Saudi, it was a hassle to get government approval to bring them to Saudi, there are some private companies who will do for you for a hefty fee, or you can get through the hassle yourself. I know the restrictions are stiffer for dogs especially some breeds over cats. However as soon we smuggled the cats into the kingdom, everything turns easier, from Vartanian to every other pet service and food, that was in a small town of Jubail, and I think a large city as Dhahran should be much easier.

People have dogs, we brought in our two. Very difficult to do without a shipper, the paperwork is huge and has to be translated. There is a vet/groomer on the camp but no boarding as far as I can see, or dog daycare, I see a lot of people asking for pet sitting on the fb groups. There is a dog park and a decently stocked pet shop not far away.

Thanks for the information on this Tamsin. We would also be planning to bring our dog but it does beg the question of how it would be possible to return to see extended family in home country or to travel if there is no boarding kennels or simile for dogs ?

There will be boarding out there, just not on the camp. There’s enough dog stuff in the shops, must be plenty of dogs about so services too.

There certainly used to be dog boarding on Aramco. Have you searched for Aramco Kennel Club /Arabian Kennel Club?

I just wanted to add, on your welcome pack is a home help bit, you could maybe hire a maid or house boy to walk your dog, let them out and hang out with them for an hour a day, worth asking. No clue what the cost is though.
