Hi there, Reading through these helpful comments and wondering whether I can take along my e-scooter from home country (Aus), I’ll be moving by mid October; Has anyone done that befor or is it easier to buy one locally? It was on the banned list for shipping for us, last year (uk). Can get them here.

o - I am moving over early next year and am getting really worried by the fact that I don’t drive. Are taxis reliable? Would it be difficult to maybe get a scooter over there to use in the compound? I don’t want basic things like having to get around for groceries / gym being an issue.

Plus work buses, camp circuit buses and off camp buses. Scooters are widely used too.

I think one of the first things to do is to set up some sort of whatsapp group to share ideas with other newcomers. All will be having the same issues. My experience with Saudi taxi drivers have been that many are on their phones a lot while driving and miss turns, tail gate, etc. It's not the most pleasant experience, and nothing like in Dubai. I'd probably look for a long-term rental once I have my iqama and DL. Are there any good options for long-term rentals?

Hi everyone - I've just arrived and am trying to find the correct name of the app to book Samara taxis with. I have an Android phone. I've downloaded SIXT but the app says SIXT 'ride' is unavailable in SA. Is there a different app? Has anyone else had this problem and solved it?

You are better off calling them, their number should be in your welcome pack.
