Hi all. I just got my offer letter and so now I really have to start researching. I believe it'll be in Dhahran.
My baby is 22 months. We'll expect to grow our family by 1 or 2 kids in the future.
I know that there's great schools for K-9, but how about for infants, toddlers, preschoolers?
Are there any daycare programs? Nannies? We need to figure out a way to help my wife as I don't want her to be stuck home with the kids all day. That situation won't allow us to last very long.

Hey,
I was hoping someone will reply to. We were told by RA that there is a daycare, however facebook group thread says no nursery on camp only outside. My husband is flying there end of August and hopefully will find out more. But what we heard many people have live in /out nannies. I feel the same as your wife, not happy if there wont be any childcare until kids are 4.
If you want sent me pm and I can send your wife an email of everything what I found out. I went through this myself. And its hard when there is no info on this forum about the chilcare, people just ignore this question. And even facebook, no one wants to talk about it. Odd...

I’ll give you a realistic view based on being here.
There’s zero day care on camp unless you both work for aramco (which is basically impossible for expats). I think the relocation people are economical with the truth in not calling this out.
Schooling isn’t until 5 properly, at 4 they do 2 hours a day in mornings or afternoons. Which really isn’t very useful at all tbh. It’s all US systems and many kids speak English as a 2nd language… If you have older kids the options are much better.
Honestly speaking, your wife will be stuck at home. There’s a small soft play on camp but that soon gets very boring.
You can hire a nanny ($$$) or spend time taking kids to a nursery off campus which is inconvenient (60 mins driving a day), of dubious quality, and expensive….Aramco won’t pay a penny towards this also. I’d think twice about bringing small kids here tbh!!

How does anyone have line-in nannies? I'm exploring this right now and being told that domestic help is not allowed to live on compound (ABQ)... not that there's any room for another person to live in this tiny house - no maid's quarters provided. Hi Dirtydan, we will be investigating the live in situation when we are there. From what I have learned is you go through HR and they will give all info regarding live in situation. It will depend on the size of the property and some other things ( cant remember now) So I would recommend just when you land go and speak to the HR, I dont think they would change the house to bigger one but never know. Our house has a study and we are not even sure if we can have live in help. I think everything is easier when you are already on camp, speak to your coworkers, HR and hopefully you can get the childcare sorted. It is very frustrating.

If your house isn’t big enough, policy is no more than 2 per bedroom, then you won’t be allowed a live in nanny. Make sure you have this sorted before coming here. Otherwise you are in for a world of pain.
There is a process for bringing in paid labour, you can use agencies, or do it yourself. You will need to pay visa fees and sort out via ABSHER etc as an employer. Don’t believe you can do this until you have an iqama so might be that nursery’s off camp are the only option for the first months.

We are also considering to take the offer from Aramco! Is there really nothing for toddlers and Babies? We have a 4 year and a one year old and they need more than just staying at home or going to the playground! Are there any baby groups being organised? Or maybe even a playgroup? My 4 year old won't be a problem of course but for my 1 year old just being with me and having nothing else until she will be 4/5 years old will be quite a challenge! I'm a stay at home mum now so I don't need daycare but my kids would need a bit more interaction with kids their own age and stimulus for their development.

I’m arriving next week, so I’ll get let into the camp fb then, I’ll let you know. But this is our 4th overseas and it’s never been a problem, you’ll meet mums. There will be swim meets, park meets, a mother and toddler. There always is, we are all in the same boat, no family or friends so you build a network pretty quickly. You won’t be lonely.

Hi there. My Husband will be starting in March 2023 in Abqaiq. I will join him with our 9 month old daughter some time in June where she will then be 14 months old. We intend on sending her for some sort of play school/swim class/Montessori ideally somewhere close to the compound. Any one with tips or recommendations? Thank you in advance.
