Hi, I'm new to this forum andI would be assigned to udhailiyah according to may RA. I have some question related to housing in Udhailiyah : 1. Do we will provided with housing inside the camp permanently or temporary? 2. If temporary, then do we will need to find the housing by ourself? 3. If permanent, how much the rental fee that deducted from our salary? Do we still got the Rental allowance?
Thank you so much and appreciate for your answer
Regards, IKHSE

Hi everyone, Can someone tell me what should we bring with us when moving to UDH compound? We are family of 5 (kids 10, 8 and a new born). I read in FAQ and in some other posts that people recommend microwave oven, at least, but those are kind of old topics, so I don't know if applicable now.
Also, what is the cost living in the compound for a family like ours?
How can we get bikes? I read that shipping might be more expensive than buying them around there? But any idea where to buy?
How long does it take to get driver's license?
How to get to the closest supermarket?
Has anyone know someone shipping stuff from SouthAmerica?
Thanks for helping

Cost of living depends on your eating habbits. I'll use US $ for cost. House Rental is $500 a month. If you prepare all your own meals using mostly domestic vegitables and meats $1000 a month should be doable, if you buy expensive imported prepared foods and eat out, much higher. Fiber internet runs about $70 a month, $20/month mobile phone
I brought my bike with me when I flew in. Extra luggage is $200 a piece internationally and I got a bike box from a bike store. You can buy basic bicycles in camp, I don't know the cost, I'll try and remember to check. There is a bike store in Al Hasa called Modern Bicycle that has nicer bikes.
Drivers license will likely be a few months as first you need your Iqama, then driving school, then the license.
There is a commissary in camp and while it's physically small they have a surprisingly large selection of food items. For my first 1 1/2 years my grocery runs were bicycle and backpack, doable for 1 or 2 people. I'm on the far end of camp so 1.5k from the comm, most houses are closer and walking distance. The deli is currently out of order due to the refrigerator being broken. I would say it is under repair, but I don't see any progress being made on it.
There is a fairly large South American contingent in camp, Venezuelans, Columbians, Ecuadorians and I'm sure some countries I'm forgetting. I can ask some of my co-workers about their shipping.
