Hi, I have read some threads on this subject, but they’re not recent. My spouse is in the middle of his application process, and we will move on family status once everything is done. I am an engineer with a MBA and always worked in the oil&gas industry in Canada and Italy. I was wondering if there is any chance that I could also work for Aramco or the option is not even there to discuss?

Some spouses find work with Aramco, but you shouldn't expect it to happen. Don't hesitate to apply for positions with Aramco, but have realistic expectations.

Thank you for taking the time and your reply. Should I start applying once we’re relocated to Saudi? Once there, would my family Visa allow me to work for Aramco or I should apply for a different type of visa/work permit?

Not sure if it has changed but we were there from 08 to 13. I has hired on as US expat, my wife, who is a degreed professional, landed a job w/ Aramco about a year after she arrived. It was long process requiring lots of approvals along the way including a work visa from the Saudi govt - she was fortunate to land such a job as a wife as US expat. Then they referred to spouses that work for Saudi Aramco as "casual" workers, which means they only received a straight salary - no benefits including no expat premium; however the salary was good!
They only reason my wife landed the job is because she had a key skill and experience they needed but were unable to fill from local Saudi's.
The only time I've known SA to hire couples through expat hiring from the US are teachers for the Aramco schools.
Not ruling out you would be able to land a job with Saudi Aramco or with another company in Saudi Arabia but wouldn't count on it.
Sounds you may have good qualifications, so may have chance? Have you looked at the engineer jobs on the Aramco website to see if you are compeive for any, if so, then you apply for them once you arrived. They used to have causal workforce/hiring office, so you would have to apply through that office, if it is still done that way.

Thank you very much for sharing ur experience. Surely it’s a valuable insight. I wish I could know how things are in the recent years. It’s a bit worrisome walking into an unknown path specially for someone who’s been working full time for the past 12 years. I have found positions in Aramco that request MBA certification, but I guess I will have to apply once there. I’ll definitely check to see if the “casual“ worker office is still in place or not.
Would it be possible for expats to relocate to another country for aramco projects with engineering centers abroad? For example if the EPC contractor who wins an Aramco project is in Spain, usually there are Aramco employees that move to Spain to follow the engineering/procurement before the project goes in construction phase in Saudi. Will the expats have a chance to be relocated in these cases or these positions are only for locals?

All spouses can work as long as you share potential job offer w/ Aramco HR so there's no doubling up for benefits such as living allowance, annual leave, etc. In fact, if spouse applies stating she's Aramcon dependent, it can be favorable b/c other company knows they can save money. Finally, many jobs are also posted specifically for expat dependents.

Ok, wow - that’s changed! When I was there, there were limited professional jobs for spouses of expats and they really had to justify hiring a western expat female spouse.
Good to know!
Additionally, I also always assume Aramco only considers males for expat jobs w/ the full expat benefits for certain jobs - like engineering, geologist, lawyers, finance, etc. I never saw a western petroleum engineer female or other profession as listed above that was hired as an female expat w/ dependents during the five years I was there. Not that many American women or females from other western countries would apply for these type of jobs in Saudi Arabia. Obviously Aramco hires females for teacher and secretary jobs directly from other countries.

I would suggest asking your spouse to talk to his recruiter to see if he can pass along your resume to relevent group. I was having a chat with my recruiter and randomly asked him if there are any job opportunities for my spouse as she will be leaving her work to move around the globe with me. He asked me to provide me her resume and he will share it internally with relevant recruiters. I know its a long shot but still could lead to something.......

The chance to get a second job is very rare these days because of the Saudi Vision 2030. It was easier 10 years ago.

By any chance, is there any couple or is anyone aware of any couple where one was working for Aramco and the other spouse got a job at JHAH?
How do they treat salary packages in that case as technically JHAH is a separate eny now. Aramco gives housing benefit etc. while I understand JHAH these days don't give on camp housing but instead include Housing Allowance and other allowances etc. to make up the full all-in package when offering roles.
Anyone who can share their experience or if they have seen / heard from others who have experienced this would be really appreciated.

No one here can tell you your chances of landing a job at Aramco. Your best assessment is to go to Aramco job site to see if there are any jobs you believe you’re compeive for, if so, then apply.
