Hi,
I recently interviewed for an engineering role, and recruiter reached me out within a week and ask my salary expectations. I'm looking to speak to someone who recently had an American offer to talk a little bit about the compensation details. Thank you,

Did they ask you for your current salary? If so, they'll also ask for pay stubs to confirm the number.

Did they ask you for your current salary? If so, they'll also ask for pay stubs to confirm the number. Isn't this technically illegal in the United States? In other countries, it might be totally fine, but I believe it's against the law for companies to ask for specific pay info from those that are living in America.

It is illegal for them to ask for your pay stubs in America. They didn't ask for my stubs, but I did provide them as I thought it would help in my offer.
If you don't want to provide your paystubs, I would suggest asking for your same salary as base if you believe your compensation is on par with what the industry is paying you. If you feel you are a bit under industry standard, ask 10% more than base. Everyone's compensation is at a different spot.
Even if the offer is a bit under your base salary, when you factor in overbase, tax benefits, 401k match, annual bonus etc., it is generally a significant jump in overall compensation. For many expats if you receive the same base pay, to match the overall compensation in the US would require approximately double the salary assuming your current employer doesn't offer a significant 401k match, bonus etc. That has changed a bit as the Aramco pension package has changed, but it is a significant jump in compensation when you look at the overall package.

As you guys stated, they did not ask my paystub although I am fine sharing with my stub. I just put my current income to the form. I wonder if anyone recently hired, what are the overbase they offer nowadays? I have over 15 yrs of industry experience. Are these compansation paramaters I assume; overbase, 401K match, annual bonus and pension? Is there any annual flight tickets, etc?
Thank you,

Focus on the salary part of the negotiations, the rest of the expat package is fairly standard (flights, insurance, etc....) The salaries of course can vary... but the bonuses can vary tremendously too. If our current bonus is higher than Aramco's bonus plan, then do they take that into account? So in essence, will they look at your current base + bonus and equate it to Aramco's base + bonus? Or is it just salary?

My understanding is that they ask you for just your base pay and create an offer for you based just on that. I am sure you can negotiate with them after you've received your first offer on the basis of the bonus component of pay but again, given that it's illegal to share your paystub, you can just tell them your pay inclusive of bonus I suppose.

I wonder what the post covid expat premium is; 20, 30 or 40% percent for an American payrol? They may give a lower coefficient if they think my figure is little higher as a base and I might end up an avee figure.
