Hi all. I'm a Korean American living in the United States. My wife moved over from Korea a few years ago to marry me. Her English is fine, but the connection with Korean speakers is unmistakable. Additionally, our baby girl has only been taught Korean so far. Are there Korean speakers in these camps? With me potentially working with Aramco there (just submitted my compensation details to recruiting), that most likely entails my wife not having a job in KSA and so having a community would be extremely important.

Many of the mega projects being built for Aramco are being engineered by Korean firms, Samsung and Hyundai. Since those are contractors they don't live in Aramco camps and I believe they are all on bachelor status. I'm sure there have to be Koreans working for Aramco, I just haven't met any of them yet.

I am also a Korean American who interviewed recently. Based on your previous posts, looks like we are in a similar stage. Have you gotten an official offer yet?

hi peman00 - have you received an offer yet? I am also in a similar situation as you. Thank you. I haven't recieved an official decision yet. I just had to send in my compensation information. As discussed here and few folks I talked that has knowledge of Aramco hiring practices is that you will need to wait 3-4 weeks for the official offer. Any official offers going out need to be signed off by few individuals internally so like in all cases, just be relax and let the process work itself out.

Yes, I agree it's more of a waiting game now.

My current timeline: - April 2. Got a random message on LinkedIn from an independent headhunter in the UK for this Aramco role. I was curious and he sent over the Aramco expat details and it was intriguing. - April 19. Interview with the hiring manager and a talent acquisition employee who were based in KSA. It was a short 20 minute interview and I have no idea how it went b/c it was so curt. - April 27, got an email from Aramco Houston to schedule on-site interviews in Houston with 4 people who flew in from Saudi Arabia - May 19, on-site interview in Houston and then later that day, got a call saying there was positive feedback - May 20, sent over my comp details. Although I know the wait is long, I'm not sure they'll give me an offer because my current package is already high and unsure if Aramco would be willing to give a premium over that - June 1, asked recruiter for an update. Radio silence. - June 16, recruiter tells me compensation team is asking for my undergrad and grad diplomas. I sent over grad, but don't have my undergrad diplomas as that was lost. Instead, send in transcript. - June 17, recruiter tells me compensation team will continue to move forward, but for me to order my undergrad diploma anyway even though I told them it'll take 4-6 weeks.
So since I was initially recruited by a headhunter, I never applied for the role and so I can't check my status online. So I have no idea if an offer is imminent or if I'm still in the processing stages. Of course, I would love to know b/c I have a wife and toddler and so this move would impact us greatly and I need my wife's full support.
Unfortunately, she nor I play nor enjoy golf. Argh. Maybe there's a Korean wives network there that doesn't focus on golf?
