I am in the interview process and have some questions about the U.S. payroll:
1) The defined benefit pension program seems to vest after three years, from what I can tell from the website. (Though I am sure it is not as generous as it was before 1/1/2021.) The question I have is can I still put money in the 401K? The website is a little hazy on this. Seems to indicate you can choose one or the other. Does anyone know?
2) My daughter is in university in the U.S. and is on my current health care plan, where U.S. law says she can stay until she is 25. If my wife and I relocate to Dhahran, can she stay on the Aramco health insurance program, since I would be on the U.S payroll?
3) I understand the "expat premium," as it is known, is for paying U.S. income taxes. Is that indeed the case?
4) I was laid off in 2021 and took my current job at a lower salary than I was receiving previously. Can I send BOTH payslips (if they ask), to indicate I have worked at a higher salary?
Answers mucho appreciated.

I am in the interview process and have some questions about the U.S. payroll: 1) The defined benefit pension program seems to vest after three years, from what I can tell from the website. (Though I am sure it is not as generous as it was before 1/1/2021.) The question I have is can I still put money in the 401K? The website is a little hazy on this. Seems to indicate you can choose one or the other. Does anyone know? The defined benefit plan has changed since I started in 2019, but at the time I started you can contribute to both the 401k and are eligible for the pension. check with your advisor for clarification.2) My daughter is in university in the U.S. and is on my current health care plan, where U.S. law says she can stay until she is 25. If my wife and I relocate to Dhahran, can she stay on the Aramco health insurance program, since I would be on the U.S payroll? You can include your children on your Aramco healthcare plan until they reach the age of 26, then they need to provide their own plan.3) I understand the "expat premium," as it is known, is for paying U.S. income taxes. Is that indeed the case? It's a bit more complex than that. Consider the expat premium as an enticement / bonus for what you are giving up to live in kingdom.4) I was laid off in 2021 and took my current job at a lower salary than I was receiving previously. Can I send BOTH payslips (if they ask), to indicate I have worked at a higher salary? Legally they can't ask for your payslips, you can provide them voluntarily. Do whatever you think is best for your negotiation, and you can negotiate when you receive an offer.Answers mucho appreciated. It's a challenge and a bit confusing when you receive an offer from Aramco because you have base pay, expat premium, a cost of living adjustment (I forget what they call it) and also the first $106,000 of your income is not taxed by the feds when working as an expat.

Thanks, ArcticEngineer. Appreciate the feedback.Haven't gotten to the offer stage yet, but I wanted to be prepared if/when it comes.
