Hi I reached Dhahran yesterday, feeling still sinking in. A quick question: Do Samara provide car rental service for driving within the DH camp area? An early response will be appreciated. Regards

There was a Samara rental depot behind Munira commissary that I used around 2015. Prices were reasonable. Car was basic model MG or Nissan 4 door.
You will need to arrange a pass for the car to drive it on camp tho.

If you have no joy on camp, there are loads of car hire places in Khobar - big international brands along with local brands.

Problem is you can’t legally drive outside Aramco until you have your Saudi licence, which you can’t get until you have your Iqama, which is a couple of months with a fair wind.
You’ll need to have a car at Aramco, without one you are confined to using buses that run twice a day at best.

After that you need your Saudi license. My advise is get the process started as soon as possible. Alfifa in Dhahran office offer a service for translating your international license, filling out the paperwork and even taking you to the driving school. I tried twice on my own with no luck, third time lucky using Alfifa.

If your position requires you to drive a company vehicle, the company will take care of the drivers license process for you. The rental company that had vehicles in the camp is no longer operating in the camp.

As I just paid the 60SAR fee to them, and they did everything, then picked up my driving license from the Aramco office.

All Thank you for your help, I was able to rent a Kia from Samara for a month, though it can be only driven inside the camp on my International Driving Permit. Will start the KSA DL process after Iqanama is done.

Samara charged around SAR 3500 for a mid size sedan for a month. If you can manage to get this from outside camp the cost comes down to SAR 2500
