Hi All,
I am moving end of Dec to Dharan camp and my flights have been booked.
I only got baggage allowance of 25kg with my flight booking so brainstorming what to bring and what not not to. Any suggestions for must haves are welcomed?
Also, any idea what is included in the complimentary starter pack which is provided to new hires at their accommodation? In particular are irons provided?

Honestly, on 25kg I'd bring: clothes, a light rain jacket, toiletries, chargers, a multiway board with a UK plug and whatever sockets you need, all your paperwork, and a tablet. You can buy pretty much anything in Khobar, and it's an easy taxi away. Irons are in most supermarkets, if not on camp.
The starter pack may well have changed, but my husband seemed to think everything essential was supplied. A kettle was definitely there, along with bedding, pans, cutlery, plates.....

I have just arrived to Ras Tanura on the 1st of December.
I am on family status with my family to follow, I've been placed straight into my family housing and the home was furnished with the aramco furniture, sofa, dining table and chairs, bed, bedding, towels.
There was a kettle, iron, ironing board, pans, cutlery, knife set. There was also a food starter pack, including bread, eggs, cheese, milk, cereal, tea, coffee, sugar cubes.
I'll be honest I paid for a second case and even contemplated a third, but tool clothing, laptop, paperwork, and a few home comforts. You'll be surprised how easy it is to get to the supermarkets/Dhahran mall (which has everything).
Taxis are reasonably priced which makes things easier, one piece of advise is if you have a travel card/global debit card its easier to use than cash.

Pay the money for the extra baggage and bring whatever you need to. At the end of the day you need enough work clothing to last you maybe 10 days (laundry is reasonably cheap on camp / in town) and similar for casual wear outside of work.
Office clothing is smart casual - shoes, pants and open collar shirt for example. If your on plant then you will be provided with working clothes anyway.
Either way, the second you land and get payroll set up you should receive "settling in allowance" which IIRC is one months base salary. That will more than cover the cost of an extra bag.
Electrical goods you need can be found in the big Supermarkets or Extra, electronics goods in Jahrir and household goods Saco.
