Dear all,
I am hoping to be in JHAH soon as Consultant physician. We are just going through the visa process. My question was about accommodation... I have an ‘off camp’ contract .. with a residential/rental allowance .. Is the allowance paid upon receipt/proof of cost of residency or is it paid as part of your monthly salary.. Also any tips of moving etc.. would be greatly appreciated..
Many thanks

Rent usually due Annually, and RAA is paid in one lump sum. You will get the amount paid up to the level of your invoice, or the max in your RAA. You cannot get a cash benifit from this allowance by living in a cheap unit.

Hi guys,
I have also received an offer with JHAH as a physician. I have noticed that there are two allowances for housing: basic housing allowance paid monthly and an annual housing supplemental allowance. Does any body know how this works?! If I rent a place and submit an invoice, will I be reimbursed from the supplemental allowance or will I be asked to pay it from the basic housing allowance that I will be paid monthly?! In other words can I consider the monthly basic housing allowance as part of my salary and pay housing from the annual supplemental allowance?! good luck to all of you.

basic housing allowance and family housing supplement together make the max possible reimbursement by JHAH in one year. Family housing supplement will be given based on actual expense only and you need to provide the invoices. However you will get the basic housing allowance in full regardless whatever you spend, so consider that included in your monthly salary.

Thank you for your input. just to be clear; if I rent a place for 20K USD a year, will that be paid from the supplemental allowance after an invoice is submitted or will I be asked to pay from the basic allowance first before the supplemental allowance kicks in?!

If that amount is short of your allowable basic monthly allowance, then no invoices will be asked for. If your rent exceeds the basic housing allowance then they will reimburse extra based on your invoices. Hope that clarifies!

I got an offer from Aramco and I'll be on Eastern payroll. The offer says 3 times the basic salary, unaccountable. I need to know that are we also enled for Accountable RAA as my work location is Riyadh where the cost of decent accommodation is really high.

Your rental allowance will be as detailed in the offer. I'm not familiar with the details of the Eastern payrole offer. Please check with your relocation advisor if you need clarification. I dont think Riyadh is particularly more expensive than Khobar. Compound rent was very expensive to my European eyes.

Thanks Swan for the quick response. My RA says it is 3 x Basic Unaccountable only. And nothing about Accountable RAA. Is the RAA policy document different for Eastern payroll employees?
