Hi Guys,
I've just obtained my 90 day visa and will begin the process of relocating next month to the Dhahran Camp.
It looks like there are options in terms of shipping my families belongings, so I just wanted to see what experiences people have had.
I understand there are three options:
(1)...Armaco pay both an airfreight allowance and surface shipping allowance to cover you personal belongings, or
(2)...You elect to take cash in lieu of the allowances and house is furnished by Aramco and after 4 months you begin rental of the furnishings , or
(3)...You elect to take cash in lieu of the allowances and you furnish the Aramco house with local furniture after 4 months (i.e. you return the rental furnishings)
I'm keen to know people's experiences on the above and also what is recommended to bring for the airfreight allowance, which arrives quickly compared to the surface shipping allowance which is shipped via sea freight.
Thanks
Wback

Thanks Wback Most people take cash in lieu. I arranged for my own shipping of small items and boxes, and it stored and then shipped once I was settled off camp. For major furniture, appliances and vehicles you would want Aramco to take care of it... But ask yourself is it worth the hassle? We have Ikea and other outlets, and it's possible shipped items might not fit.

May I know what shipping company did you use, Starboy? And what is the package called?

May I know what shipping company did you use, Starboy? And what is the package called? [br It was a shipping company from Toronto and we simply used Turkish Airlines. Unfortunately the company no longer ships here. Having said that, ask any local shipper with Dammam as your final destination, as we have both an airport and seaport. I have 250kg of personal items shipped in containers I bought from home depot and it cost me $1000 US,including one day arrival stoe by receiving agent, Saudia. Also initial shipment of personal effects is duty free in Saudi.

o everyone, This forum has been a great resource for us over the past 1 year . Finally we are moving to the Dhahran camp in November 2019! Hurray !! . Would you be able to guide me about shipping furniture from city of The Hague in The Netherlands to Dammam.
Any idea of costs ? We have a kind size bed, bed-side drawersx2. A big dressing table with a big framed mirror.
Thanks so much
