Hi guys, I'm told an offer is incoming soon but it is taking really long (almost two months have passed) and my current manager had approached me with a recent opportunity which I'm only given a week to think over.
I'm not expecting exact numbers understandably, but if anyone has a rough % increase over current package (including overbase, travel etc) based on their experience, it would be helpful for me to make a more informed decision . I'm on global payscale.

As Brits, not paying tax is a massive uplift!

Well, *my* salary dropped to 0.... As a household, we were significantly better off without me working, and my husband working for Aramco.

Thanks for your responses Swan. Side question, was it hard to get used to the big changes of not having a job and as a woman in Saudi? Asking on behalf of my wife

It's certainly a different life, but there are plenty of ladies in a similar position. There are ways to fill your life without 40hrs a week at the office. I also had 2 kids, and got quite heavily involved with (the none Aramco, because we arrived when no camp accomadation was available) school.

Do you mean that there is a chance your offer would provide you camp accommodation but then change if you arrive at a time when all the camp residences are full?
Is it safe to live outside camp as a woman? You would need to wear the abaya at all times when you leave your home yes?

Not likely now - there is loads of accomadation. But, yes, there was a period of about 18 months where only Americians got camp accomadation.
Yes, it's safe. We lived in a non- Aramco compound. So, shorts and teeshirt to go to the park, swimming pool, local shop, kids football/dance/gym/tennis/art class. Abaya if left compound.
I'd actually say, apart from the traffic, KSA is safer than the UK.

Sorry for the slow reply Swan, have been a bit jaded as it's been two months since I was told to send my documents to prep for an offer and it's been taking ages. The info you provided has been really helpful and I appreciate it!

My offer should be coming soon and don't know if I should negotiate it.
