There are Landlords and real estate companies that charge a high 'refundable' security deposit at the start of your lease, however, when you leave their facility at the end of your lease period you suddenly find out that the deposit isn't refundable. They make up excuses to delay your payment and eventually they hope you get tired of calling and emailing. I have had this experience with a compound in the Rakah area of khobar with a well known company ( their billboards are all over khobar) and after 8 months of moving out I still get excuses and unanswered phone calls. Additionally the laws in Saudi Arabia doesn't really help in assisting you in getting your refund. Thus my advice is don't pay any deposit or ensure its a low deposit and expect not to get it back at the end of your lease contract. Has anyone had similar experiences? I would state the name of the company to warn people but I am not sure if that would be allowed in this forum.
