Hi,
My husband is Canadian and is due to go for an interview in Houston soon. The position is for an Aerospace Engineer. He currently works for Airbus. Although he looks very young with great Mediterranean genes and holds a high position and extensive experience, I am concerned about his age, as he is 62. They have his resume and passport, so if 60 is the mandatory age to retire in SA and if they don't generally hire over 60 (although I read it can be overridden) Im not sure why they are considering him at all. Has anyone ever heard of this? I read an unsettling story about a man hired at 58 and moved and resettled etc, than was let go within 2 weeks based on age. I am about 18 years younger than my husband and it is really hard for me to understand this, but I don't want our hopes to be too high (although we have a great life anyway and will be fine either way), given what I've read. But, I do not know firsthand.... Any thoughts on this is appreciated. Thank you! MA
