Hi Folks,
I received an offer this week to work for Saudi Aramco at Salary Code 13. I wonder if anyone has done a reconnaissance of the region before signing the contract. It's nothing like being there to checkout everything.
I have worked with major international oil companies and they always provide a 3-5 day reconnaissance trip to checkout the place, housing, schools etc. And this is before signing the contract.i personally found it super useful.

The issue would be getting a visa. Tourist visas don't (yet) exist, so you would need an invite. I'm not aware of anyone who has come out prior to starting work.

Congrats as GC 13 is great to start on!
As for a recon visit, as Swan said, it's unheard of.
However, if you were able to secure a visa for religious purposes, then it's possible.

Thanks. My role is based in Khursaniyah. Do you know where do families of expat worker working there live?

forum.aramcoexpats.com/thread/124274/received-offer-khursaniyahThis thread might help. I know nothing about the plant, sorry. Jubail is the closest city, but i dont think Aramco have a camp there. I would imagine accomadation at Ras tanura or Dhahran - both about 90 mins away, or rental assistance and live in Jubail.
