Hi there!
I am new to this forum but have found it extremely helpful throughout my process so far.
I interviewed in London in September for the position of Secretary and was successful in obtaining an offer. I have since been through the process of completing all of the required documentation, which was very rigorous but extremely well organized. My certificates have been sent to obtain my temporary visa; I am now waiting for my departure date (in the hope that I pass the checks for my visa). Ideally they wanted me there within the next few weeks. But, in England I am a Personal Assistant consultant which essentially means I travel to different organisations to offer my support and skills to create a stronger administrative team for those companies. I am currently working at a secondary school on a consultancy basis until 8 January. So, I am unable to leave before then.Saudi Aramco have been very understanding and have accepted this fact so have said I will part of the next visa block instead. That means I am looking at being out there for January/February time.
I wondered if there are any Secretaries who are due to move to Saudi - specifically Dhahran which is where I have been placed - or if there are any newbies there already who could tell me a little about their experiences so far. I know it will be very different to what I am used too. But, I'm 24 with no commitments back home, plus I love to travel and experience new cultures so I am extremely excited to get out there!
Thank you very much!
Victoria

Hi Victoria....can you take us through the timeline of your selection process? Also, is there an option of not getting selected even at visa application stage? Not sure I got you correctly!! I am in Scotland & might go through similar process. Thnx... NR

Of course...a recruiter for SA contacted me at the end of June to discuss the position with me and to put me forward for the role of Secretary. I was then sent information of the recruitment process and was invited for a Skype interview on 22 July. I did the Skype interview and was informed a couple of days afterwards that I had been selected for interview in September. I had the interview in London on 13 September and I was informed I had been successful around 2 weeks after. I then waited another 2 weeks for my offer to come through. Throughout October I was sent a lot of documentation to fill out and send back. On 24 October I was allocated a relocation advisor who emailed me and subsequently spoke to me on the phone to introduce herself and to explain the next steps. I had to send my qualifications and other documentation back to her. Around mid-November she contacted me to explain that there was an available visa block for Secretaries (apparently they have different visa blocks for different job roles) at that time and that if I accepted the visa block I could be in Saudi before Christmas. However, due to the nature of my work in the UK I am unable to leave until January so I was unable to accept that. I'm now waiting for the next Secretary visa block - my advisor doesn't know when that will be but is hoping it will be around January/February time.
My understanding is all the main checks are done prior to the visa stage but there is a possibility that something might fall through during that stage that would mean you don't get accepted for a visa. That's what I have been told anyway - that's why they tell you not to hand your notice in until after the visa has been accepted.
I hope that makes sense! How far along in the process are you?
